SWE 2015 Region J Conference

The SWE 2015 Region J Conference, Eat, Drink, Enginner will be held April 10-12, 2015 at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, Washington.

Conference sessions will cover four tracks: Collegiate, SWE Society, Professional Development, and Technical Topics related to the food and agriculture industry.  Registration will open in January.  For more information check out the flyer or go to the conference website:

JCON15 Volunteers needed -- Speaker Coordinators

The planning is well underway for JCON15 to be held in Kennewick April 10th - 12th, 2015.  The Speakers' Committee is looking for volunteers to assist the main day of the conference (April 11th) as "Speaker Coordinators".   The duties of the Speaker Coordinator are as follows:

  • Introduce the speaker
  • Act as a room facilitator, adjusting lights and requesting room or technical assistance when necessary
  • Hand out and collect, comment survey forms
  • Thank the speaker and present the speaker gift.

This is a fun and minimal-time-commitment way to support our section and be involved in JCON15.   If you are interested, send an email to with the Email header of "Speaker Coordinator Volunteer". There will be other same-day type volunteers needed so let us know if there is something else you might be interested in volunteering with also.

Our SWE Professional Development event will center around the Tara Mohr book “Playing Big”, where Tara discusses how to find your “Inner Mentor” to guide you through tough situations in life. This and other exercises/discussion topics from the book will be shared

Engineers Week – February 22-28, 2015

Engineers week is fast approaching. It is time to think about your nomination for the Awards and Recognition for the Tri Cities Engineer of the Year (for achievement during 2012-2014). Details of the criteria and other information is to follow. Please submit to us ( a nomination using the TCEOY process and the following forms:
